Nayarit

Nayarit is one of the country’s most popular beach destinations. Its towns maintain the authenticity of their past, which has seduced the most avid adventurers, and its cosmopolitan cities always spoil its visitors. Nayarit is also home to many cultural and natural treasures, as well as indigenous communities whose traditions have survived the passing of time. 

The word Nayarit comes from a king of the Cora people called Nayar. Nayarit means “son of God in the sky and the sun”. The state’s territory is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental, the Coastal Plains of the Pacific, the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt and the Sierra Madre del Sur.
