What Makes It Magical

With its ever present mist, Zacatlán is situated on the edge of the gorgeous Barranca de los Jilgueros. It’s a town where bread is baked fresh every day, monumental clocks are made, and they harvest the fruits of the land. Apples are what most abound. You’ll find them dehydrated and turned into liqueurs and jams. They give thanks for the apples every year during the Feria de la Manzana (Apple Fair) with dances and parades with floats.

• Zacatlán is home to a giant clock factory called Centenario that was founded in 1918.
• Their clocks are found on churches, towers, and in squares not just in Mexico but also abroad.
• Today, the installations also include the Museo de Relojes y Autómatas Alberto Olvera Hernández.
• Learn about the history of how mankind measures time at this museum.
• The Plaza de Armas is outfitted with an enormous Centenario clock, made from flowers and featuring two clock faces.
