The territory of Puebla forms a part of the Sierra Madre del Sur, the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Gulf Coast Plains. Its name simply means “population”, according to Friar Toribio de Benavente.
It shares a border with the states of Hidalgo, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Morelos, Tlaxcala and the State of Mexico. Its climate ranges from temperate sub-humid to semi-dry in its diverse regions, and its annual average temperature is 63.5°F. Its nine magical towns are Cuetzalan, Cholula, Atlixco, Chignahuapan, Zacatlán de las Manzanas, Huauchinango, Pahuatlán, Tlatlauquitepec and Xicotepec.
