Amber Museum

The Amber Museum is located inside the Former Convent of La Merced, a 16th-century building that pays homage to the fossilized resin that was greatly admired in pre-Hispanic times. The talent of the people of Chiapas in creating amber sculptures is exhibited here; you will also learn about the origins, characteristics, processes of extraction and the history of this precious material; and you can purchase pieces of certified jewelry.
