The old Hacienda de la Soledad, located around 16 miles northeast of Parras, is where this wine originated. Framed by dry hills but blessed with fertile land, it is said that this hacienda began to produce wine around 200 years ago.
Around 2008, the first Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz vines were planted and three years later the first bottle of Barro Viejo was ready, product of the successful combination of these three varieties.
