Iglesia de la Compañía and Templo del Sagrario

Admire the architecture to these churches that are so representative of Pátzcuaro and learn about the history around them.

The Iglesia de la Compañía (Temple of the Company of Jesus) was erected between 1540 and 1546. It was the first cathedral for a while. The building has a courtyard and generous spaces that impart a feeling of serenity. A few steps away is the Templo del Sagrario. The church is now the Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita. This cultural center is eye-catching for its range of architectural styles. Construction on it started in 1693 and wrapped up two centuries later.
