Stop and Rest in the Parroquia de Santiago Apóstol

This beautiful church was born at the same time as the town.

Towards the west side of Viesca’s Plaza de Armas is the Parroquia de Santiago Apóstol, a white, austere and yet harmonious building.

Several architectural interventions have resulted in a grey door and a bell tower composed of three segments, with a pyramid-shaped capstone. Its interior is simple, although its main modern altar boasts three carved stone images. The one in the center is Señor Santiago with a pilgrim’s walking stick and gourd. To the left is Saint Joseph with baby Jesus and to the right, Our Lady. The ceiling still conserves its old beams.
