Doves, roosters, lamps, pots and platters are some of the pottery objects made here. Without a potter’s wheel, just using their hands, the women of Amatenango learned how to work with clay when they were young girls. You will also find jaguars, animals that used to inhabit the area, but that now only exist in clay form.
