What Makes It Magical

Southeast of the Gulf of Mexico sits Frontera. In addition to being one of Tabasco’s Magical Towns, it is also Centla’s county seat. Frontera is remarkable for being one of the area’s two biggest ports, receiving boats and commercial traffic. And it also features unique scenery. This is where fresh water from the Grijalva river flows into the salty sea.

The climate is warm and humid, with plenty of rain in the summertime. The average high temperature is 87.7°F, and the average low is 68.9°F.

Don’t Miss

  1. Visit the church dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe. It is a 65.6-foot-high structure with two square towers that meet in the shape of a cross in the top of the building. This spot is truly a gem for fans of religious art.
  2. Discover La Casa del Agua, the spot where two of Mexico’s most powerful rivers, the Grijalva and the Usumacinta, meet.
  3. Enjoy local food. Taste the traditional pejelagarto (tropical gar) fish in green sauce, roasted and served in salad, or in fish pies.
