These angular basalt rock columns can be viewed from a long, hanging bridge, suspended 131 feet high. From this vantage point, the view of down the canyon is spectacular. You can see the hundreds of geometric rock formations and the falls that are created by the nearby dams. You can also venture down to the bottom to get a closer look at these columns that are thousands of years old.
This natural wonder has fascinated travelers and artists since the 19th century, including Baron Alexander von Humboldt and painter Johann Moritz Rugendas, who captured the place in drawings and lithographs.
