National Museum of Tequila

Museo Nacional del Tequila

Anyone wanting a broad understanding of tequila’s history and processes should visit this museum: the National Tequila Museum.

The building where it’s housed dates to the late 19th century and was built during the rule of Porfirio Díaz. This is where you can learn the historic roots of the uses of maguey, from pre-Hispanic era to current day. The museum is comprised of five exhibition rooms, while in the courtyard you can see a pre-Hispanic oven and a stone agave mill known as a tahona.
