Museum of Guadalupe

Museo de Guadalupe and Sala ExpresArte

The museum occupies what once formed part of the Convento de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Before it was a museum, it was used as a tenement building, stables, and match factory.

Today it houses very significant cultural heritage: that of the paintings, sculptures, feathered art, books, and other objects from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

Its art gallery has one of the most diverse collections in the north of Mexico. It includes works by Luis Juárez, Alonso López de Herrera, Cristóbal de Villalpando, Miguel Cabrera, Gabriel José de Ovalle, Nicolás Enríquez, Patricio Morlete Ruiz, José de Páez, and Juan Nepomuceno Herrera, among others.

If you are traveling with children, go to the ExpresArte interactive area where learning happens through play. There are huge puzzles of the museum’s art works, and a video about the baroque. There is also a nursery zone here, where you can leave your children to be looked after while you explore the museum.
