La Rumorosa Scenic Drive

This part of federal highway 2, between Tecate and Mexicali, is truly a sight to see. The road weaves through the craggy mountains of the Sierra Juárez and for a while, you might feel as if you are driving through an otherworldly terrain of jagged boulders. This is La Rumorosa, named after the nearby village of the same name. Whoever decides to explore will be rewarded with spectacular views of a mountainous landscape, bizarre rock formations formed by millennia of wind erosion, and in wintertime, the area can even be snow-covered.
