This pyramid is the third highest pre-Hispanic structure in the country, only after the pyramids Pirámide del Sol in Teotihuacan, State of Mexico, and Pirámide de Cholula in Puebla. Its name means “fire macaw with the face of the burning sun” in the Mayan language, and it was built for the god Kinich Kak Moo.
