Álamos Mint Building

Casa de Moneda

Since 1827, Casa de Moneda was the site where precious minerals were turned into coins for Mexico and other countries. Here, copper octavos, silver reales, and gold pesos were minted. These days, the building still bears the facade of an old, colonial mansion despite now being a junior high school.
