Visit a Pearl Farm

Have a one-of-a-kind experience on a precious pearl farm.

On the north end of the Island is a pearl farm that is well worth the visit–Cozumel Pearl Farm. This family-run venture founded in 2001 cultured pearls with the help of Pinctada radiata oysters. The painstaking process requires keeping oysters in their boxes underwater, as described in a talk in a small, remote bar on the beach or also on a snorkel tour. On the tour, it is possible to see an enormous bronze Madonna that the family sank in the water to protect their farm.

Useful Information

It takes pearl oysters five years to form the precious balls of mother-of-pearl.
