The town of Tlaxcalantongo, about 15 miles from Xicotepec, is the home to a massive stone monument and a bronze sculpture that commemorate the site of the assassination of Venustiano Carranza. Barbas de Carranza Waterfalls, a couple of waterfalls worth the visit, are also in the area. One is beside the road and not very big, but the other is hidden in among the trees with their play of lights and shadows. Not far away, in the direction of Ávila Camacho, flows the Cilima river with its hanging bridge. During the rainy season, it is possible to raft here.
