Try Tapalpa’s Gastronomical Delights

The most representative dish is called borrego al pastor (sheep in an adobo sauce). The best place to try it is El Árbol de la Culebra. We suggest it with a side of frijoles charros (cooked beans with bacon and onion) and pomegranate punch.

The tamal de acelga (swiss chard tamale) at Los Girasoles is another classic. Pair it with a hot chocolate for the cold. For dessert, there’s borrachitos (jelly candies made with a touch of alcohol), caramels and different flavors of rompope.
