Walk Through the Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo

The San Ángel Inn neighborhood is home to one of Latin America’s first functionalist buildings. From a distance, you can see it is surrounded by organ pipe cactuses, colorful and with flashes of traditional Mexican architecture; two houses with very geometric outlines, even in the gardens, united by a bridge. Inside there are personal objects and a vast collection of works by the painter couple, Kahlo and River. In his study, Diego Rivera created a great part of his easel works, there is evidence that more than 3000 of them were made here. And as for Frida Kahlo, she painted some of her famous paintings here, such as Las dos Fridas. In December 1986, the property’s doors opened as a museum space. You can see drawings, easel paintings and personal objects which belonged to both artists. Diego Rivera’s studio has been maintained with the decoration and objects that the muralist used. In 2012, the architect Juan O’Gorman’s house, located next door, was integrated into the museum. In what was once the living room and dining room is the outline of the mural Entre la filosofía y la ciencia hay bastante diferencia. Entering this museum will bring you face-to-face with the memory of three great artists.
