The name Tamaulipas comes from the Huasteca word tamaholipa, “place of much prayer”. It borders with the United States to the north, San Luis Potosí to the south, and Nuevo León to the west. Its climate is predominantly sub-humid warm and its average annual temperature is 74°F. Its Magical Towns are Tula and Mier. The El Cielo Biosphere Reserve is considered a World Heritage Site.
