Its Natural Landmarks

  • Playa Los Algodones (or Cotton Beach) is called this way for the delicate feel of its white sand dunes.
  • Tetakawi mountain, the symbol of San Carlos, rises 656.2 feet above sea level and can be explored on its many trails.
  • San Pedro Nolasco island is a sea lion sanctuary where these incredible animals can be seen up close.
  • Crystal-clear spring-fed pools, nacapule (ficus pertusa) and palm trees, cacti, and endemic plants are just some of what you can see in awe-inspiring Nacapule canyon.
  • El Sahuaral is a saguaro forest. This cactus species can grow up to 65.6 feet tall, and several of the saguaros here are believed to be more than 500 years old.
