What Makes It Magical

Wonder at its collective identity, its architectural wealth, and its thrilling cultural life. To learn more about the source of Mocorito’s pride, sit in its squares and slowly take in its murals.

Why You Should Go

Its Architecture… and Other Delights

  • The heart of downtown has 80 listed mansions and monuments.
  • Its Templo de la Purísima Concepción preserves fourteen engravings from the 16th century.
  • It has richly contributed to regional gastronomy. This is the birthplace of the chilorio pork stew that we know today. Moreover, they produce chorizo, jamoncillo (milk candy), and wheat and corn pastries, such as biscotela sugar cookies, anise-flavored mestiza pastries, turnovers, corico cookies, and suspiros (meringues).

At the Very Least

Visit Napo, the small chilorio factory, owned by Don Napoleón Bonyouchoa.

Don’t Miss

  1. Admire the Mocorito Ateneo Sinaloense mural in Plaza Rafael Buelna.
  2. Buy chilorio to take home.
  3. Try breaded dove, a dish unique to Mocorito.
