Templo y Ex Convento de San Juan Bautista

  • Augustinian monks built this church and monastery, which was finished in 1572.
  • It features an open chapel, the pilgrim’s entrance, an impressive cloister with gothic vaults.
  • Its sala de profundis (prayer room) has one of the best preserved mural works in central Mexico.
  • It’s one of the 12 monasteries on the slopes of Popocatépetland a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
