This beautiful town in Guerrero could be called “the marble town” thanks to its cobblestone streets made from marble and quarry stone. The beauty of its streets combined with the cultural and historic significance of Ixcateopan de Cuauhtémoc creates a unique atmosphere in which its traditions are still kept vividly alive. Profound respect remains among locals for Tlatoani Cuauhtémoc, the last great Aztec emperor of Anáhuac, nowadays Mexico City, who fought against the Spanish conquest.

  • The traditions surrounding and the respect for the last Aztec emperor. Its main festivity is an annual celebration that begins on February 23rd, being Cuauhtémoc’s birthday, and ends on February 28th, in commemoration of his death.

During the town’s festival the museum is filled with ceremonial offerings placed there by locals.
  2. On the outskirts of the town is the archeological site of Ixcateopan, which despite its small size is considered very important. Visit it to experience its calm and magical quality.
