Built in 1592, this building was the first Franciscan monastery in America. In its earliest stage, it was built with adobe but when it burnt down in 1804 its reconstruction was carried out using quarry stone and its masonry done in the neoclassical style.

Inside you will see images of Our Lady of Sorrows, Cristo del Santo Entierro, Cristo de los Plateros, Our Lady of the Assumption, Father Jesus, The Lord of Divine Mercy and Saint Faustina Kowalska, the figures most venerated by the region’s inhabitants.
