A stone’s throw from downtown San Martín, Agroindustrial Teotihuacano manufactures products from prickly pear cactus (nopal), prickly pear fruit (tuna), and the fruit’s more acidic cousin, xoconostle.
When it comes time to eat, there’s ram mixiotes, barbacoa (meat steam-cooked in an underground oven), quail, and prickly pear cactus dishes. Try the different tuna and xoconostle recipes, both as main courses and desserts. Be sure to try a good pulque—the beverage made from fermented maguey sap.
