What the artisans here do with wood are works of art worthy of admiration. Woodcarving is something people have been doing in Malinalco since pre-Hispanic times. Visitors have the good fortune of being able to witness this time-honored activity that continues to this day.

Look for the artisans at the Mercado Municipal. They make everything from furniture and decorative items to masks and pre-Hispanic tools like teponaztlis and huehuetls, among other original works you can take home.
