In part of Coyoacán, on Miguel Ángel de Quevedo avenue, the air is filled with the aroma of eucalyptus.
Here is Mexico’s first tree nursery which later became a national park. Since its founding in 1907, it has been responsible for being the main provider of trees for the city’s public parks. Its mission of raising awareness about environmental issues and protecting nature has only grown over the decades. Facilities include a composting area, an area for seedlings, an arid zone, and a wetlands area.
Today, residents of the city head here to work out amidst cedars, walnut trees, acacias, palms, jacarandas, and pines. You can also shop for plants and flowers or take aerobics, yoga, and tai chi classes. Or, explore its trails to see its wooden sculptures.
